Antihistamines, vaginal infections, contraceptive foams or jellies, sexual arousal, recent coitus (sex)

When does ovulation usually occur for someone with regular cycles<

14 days before menstruation

When is a female fertile?

5 days before and 1 day after ovulation

Education regarding vasectomy/

• BC for 1-3 months and must return to do sperm count testing.

• Takes 20 minutes to perform and is outpatient based.

• Analgesics, ice pack, and rest for pain

what do hormonal contraceptives do

Thin, foul smelling greenish yellow discharge

itching, edema, redness

TX: metronidazole (not in first tri)

Clotrimazole (used in first trI)

Does not cross placenta

Chlamydia S/S and TX

• Yellow discharge

• Painful urination

• Asymptomatic in females which delays tx

TX - Azithromycin, doxycycline, erythromycin in pregnancy

Transmitted via birth canal causes conjuctivitis and pneumonia in newborn

Gonorrhea S/S and TX

Purulent discharge, painful urination

transmitted to Newborns eyes during birth causing blindness

Tx- azithromycin and ceftriaxone

can result in PID
