Credo

Makes an "I believe" statement, also known as the Apostles Creed.

Acquired Knowledge

Knowledge that we can get through education and learning.

Allegorical Sense

What is written explains the significance of Christ.

Anagogical Sense

What is written reveals something about our eternal significance.

Analogy of Faith

The truths of faith within the plan.

Apostolic Constitution

Salem dece or statement by the pope that we are obligated to believe.

Apostolic Tradition

Church passing down the teachings of the church (scriptures and tradition) begins with the Great Commission.

Beatific Vision

Knowledge that we can only obtain in Heaven when we are face-to-face with God.

Canon of Clergy

Advising the bishop.

Canon of Eucharist

Sacred part of mass.

Canon Law

Legal system of the church.

Canon of Scripture

List of books of the bible.

Catechism (CCC)

The fundamental text containing all Catholic Church teaching.

A collection of concise but detailed information about a particular subject.

Credimus

Makes a "we believe" statement.

The Unmoved Mover

One of St. Thomas Aquinas's 5 proofs stating that everything in motion had to have an original unmoved mover.

The Grand Designer

One of St. Thomas Aquinas's 5 proofs stating that we can look at the order and design of creation that created the beauty.

The Supreme Model

One of St. Thomas Aquinas's 5 proofs stating that everything had to exist on a scale, including perfection.

The First Cause

One of St. Thomas Aquinas's 5 proofs stating that there has to be a beginning of causes, something had to cause everything originally.

Necessary Being

One of St. Thomas Aquinas's 5 proofs stating that everything had to come from one being that is necessary for holding all things.

Ecumenical Council

A meeting of bishops and other leaders to consider questions on doctrine, dogma, discipline, etc.

Divine Pedagogy

Manner in which God teaches us and morals for us.

Infused Knowledge

Knowledge that is imparted on us by God through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Laity

Lay People (church members; not a priest, etc.) in the mass.

Literal Sense

What is written is meant to be taken literally.

Mass

Greatest sacrament.

Moral Sense

What is written explains the significance of Christ.

Proof

Converging and convincing argument to lead us to truth.

Religion

Al relationship with the divine.

Revelation

The way which God reveals himself to us.

7 Characteristics of Faith

Gift from God, necessary to attain salvation, requires free will and clear understanding, Jesus guarantees it, incomplete unless it leads to active love, grows when we listen more carefully, gives us foretaste of the joy of heaven.

Deposit of Faith

The revealed truth in the scripture and tradition proposed by the magisterium for the belief of the faithful.
