Apostle
One who is sent not from men or through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead.
Present evil age
The current world state from which Jesus Christ delivered believers according to the will of God and Father.
The Gospel of Christ
The message that Paul received through a revelation of Jesus Christ, not from man, and which some were attempting to distort.
Accursed
The status Paul assigns to anyone, including himself or an angel from heaven, who preaches a gospel contrary to the one originally received.
Judaism (Paul's former life)
A period where Paul persecuted the church of God violently, tried to destroy it, and was extremely zealous for the traditions of his fathers.
Cephas
The name used for Peter, whom Paul visited in Jerusalem for fifteen days and later opposed to his face in Antioch.
Titus
A Greek who accompanied Paul to Jerusalem and was notably not forced to be circumcised.
Pillars
The term used for James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be influential leaders in the Jerusalem church.
Gospel to the uncircumcised
The specific ministry entrusted to Paul by the influential leaders, just as Peter had been entrusted with the gospel to the circumcised.
Justified
The state of being counted righteous through faith in Jesus Christ rather than by works of the law.
The Law of Christ
Fulfilled when believers bear one another’s burdens.
430 years
The amount of time the law came after the promise was made to Abraham and his offspring.
Guardian
The role of the law until Christ came, so that believers might be justified by faith.
Abba! Father!
The cry of the Spirit of God's Son sent into the hearts of believers because they are sons and heirs.
Elementary principles of the world
Weak and worthless things that enslaved the Galatians, involving the observation of days, months, seasons, and years.
Hagar and Sarah Allegory
A comparison where Hagar represents the covenant of Mount Sinai (slavery) and the free woman represents the Jerusalem above (freedom).
The circumcision party
A group whose presence caused Cephas to draw back and separate himself from eating with the Gentiles in Antioch.
Works of the flesh
Evident behaviors including sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, and orgies.
Fruit of the Spirit
Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Household of faith
The group of believers to whom special priority should be given when doing good.
New creation
The only thing that counts in Christ, as opposed to circumcision or uncircumcision.
Marks of Jesus
The physical signs Paul bears on his body that signify his service and for which he asks not to be troubled.
