Slavery were people worked for their masters for some time in order to pay for a debt
Philemon
Christian slave master, slaves and masters are equal in Christ
Onesimus
Philemon's slave who ran away and met Paul - Paul, in the letter then converted Onesimus to Christianity and appealed to Philemon to receive him back not as a slave, but as a beloved brother. This letter is a key example of how the early church addressed slavery and the concept of equality in Christ.

Benjamin Lay
Benjamin Lay was an early abolitionist known for his radical and confrontational methods of protesting against slavery. He was a Quaker who lived in the 18th century and passionately opposed slavery, viewing it as a grave sin. He used dramatic and symbolic actions to raise awareness and shame slaveholders.
