Prince Max asks for an armistice to end fighting and enforce peace within Germany ( and he knows he is close top losing war)
What was the ‘Revolution from above?’
Enforced by Prince Max to the Kaiser to have a constitutional monarchy as the military felt a civilian gov would attract a peace treaty from the ‘victorious allies’
Prince Max also always all men to have the vote and allow the government to control the army and not the kaiser
Why did the revolution from above fail?
Spartactist were looking to Russia as they had just had a communist revolution
Kaiser refuses to abdicate despite unpopularity (eventually does anyway)
By the 8th November 1918 Bavaria declares itself as a republic
FORCED Kaiser to abdicate and Prince Max to resign
