Leader
An individual with the ability to guide or direct the actions of others in a desired manner to achieve goals.
Human capital
The sum of a person’s knowledge, skills, health, and values; it is the intangible talent that a person brings to a task or job position.
Role model
A person whose behavior is imitated by others.
Credibility
How much people believe what you say; it determines whether or not they are willing to follow you.
Competence
A way to establish credibility by being capable and well-qualified to do what needs to be done.
Reliability
A way to establish credibility by doing what you say you will do, such as attending meetings or following up on assignments.
Integrity
Adhering to an established set of personal ethics and sound moral principles.
Ethics
The basic rules that govern behavior.
Self-confidence
A positive belief in your own talents, skills, and objectives.
Responsibility
Taking ownership of a problem, making sure it is fixed, and taking steps to prevent it from happening again.
Emotional intelligence
The ability to recognize and manage emotions in ourselves and in others.
Self-awareness
A component of emotional intelligence referring to a person’s knowledge of his/her own emotions.
Self-management
A component of emotional intelligence referring to directing and controlling one’s emotions in a way that is purposeful.
Social awareness
A component of emotional intelligence referring to knowing and understanding others’ emotions and demonstrating empathy.
Empathy
The ability to relate to the feelings, thoughts, and experiences of other people.
Social management
A component of emotional intelligence referring to responding effectively to the emotions of others through communication and teamwork.
Flexibility
Also known as adaptability, it is the ability to respond appropriately to changes as they occur.
Creativity
The ability to generate unique ideas, approaches, and solutions.
Passion
Genuinely caring about the work being done and the people being led.
Business knowledge
A thorough knowledge of the company and the industry, essential for making informed decisions.
