temporary stature

Party Primaries are run by every party on the first Tuesday in March of even-numbered years to select nominees and choose county and precinct party officials. Precinct Conventions are open to any primary voter as a delegate. There they can submit and debate resolutions, adopt resolutions to go to county and district conventions and choose delegates for later conventions. These take place the day of the primary, County and District Conventions also adopt resolutions to go to state and elect delegates for state and party leadership positions. They are held on the 3rd Saturday after 1st Tuesday in March. State Conventions are very important. They certify primary winners as official, set their party rules and platforms, select national delegates, committee members and Texas' 38 electors. They are in June of even years. The National Convention is for the official selection of Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidates for each party and is done by delegate vote.

permennate structure

Precinct Chairs are elected in precincts on the primary election day. They, along with the County chair make up the County Executive Committee. At their convention, there will be a vote on who makes up the State Executive Committee. This vote is by delegate and by the board, not directly by you and I. The State board MUST be 1 man and 1 woman from each of 31 senatorial districts and chaired by 1 man and 1 woman also elected by delegates. That's 64 people total for every party in Texas! They will, in turn, organize a convention to register Texas' vote for who will sit on the National Executive Committee, which handles the presidential race.
