Autonomic Nervous System
The part of the nervous system that controls involuntary bodily functions, such as digestion and heart rate.
Sympathetic Nervous System
The division of the autonomic nervous system responsible for the body's 'fight or flight' response.
Parasympathetic Nervous System
The division of the autonomic nervous system responsible for 'rest and digest' functions.
Olfactory Nerve
Cranial nerve number one, responsible for the sense of smell.
Optic Nerve
Cranial nerve number two, responsible for the sense of vision.
Oculomotor Nerve
Cranial nerve number three, controlling four of the six extrinsic eye muscles.
Trigeminal Nerve
Cranial nerve number five, responsible for sensation in the face and motor functions such as biting and chewing.
Vagus Nerve
Cranial nerve number ten, involved in autonomic control of the heart, lungs, and digestive tract.
Cataracts
A condition in which the lens of the eye becomes cloudy, leading to decreased vision.
Accommodation
The process by which the eye adjusts its lens to focus on objects at different distances.
