What is active voice?
In active voice, the subject of the sentence performs the action expressed by the verb. The focus is on the doer of the action. Structure: Subject + Verb + Object.
What is passive voice?
In passive voice, the subject of the sentence receives the action performed by the verb. The focus is on the action and what is being acted upon. Structure: Object + Form of 'to be' + Past Participle of Verb + (by Agent).
Example of a sentence in active voice:
The dog chased the ball. (The dog is the subject and performs the action of chasing.)
Example of a sentence in passive voice:
The ball was chased by the dog. (The ball is the subject and receives the action of chasing.)
