outdated created in 70s, now less than 75% agreement on terms used as traits do not have the same meaning today limiting its temporal validaty, Also uses self report so can be influenced by Social desirability bias ,may rate how they believe they 'should be' not true reflection

Developed in USA cant be applied everywhere as it labels assertiveness as a male characteristic , but in other cultures such as the tchumbali tribes researched by mead, assertiveness was a feminine trait so, reduces cross cultural validity as cannot be applied to other cultures effectively
