Law of Dominance and Uniformity
Some alleles are dominant, others are recessive. If 2 homozygotes with different alleles breed, then the offspring will all be heterozygous with the phenotyoe of the dominant allele
Law of Segregation
During gamete formation the alleles of each gene separate into separate gametes
Law of Independent Assortment
Alleles are passed on separately of each other
Dominance
Codominance: where both the alleles of a heterozygote are fully expressed and traits are neither dominant nor recessive e.g, Cc
Incomplete Dominance: heterozygous phenotype is distinct from (and often an intermediate of) the two possible homozygous phenotypes
Pedigrees
Autosomal dominant: affected parents can produce affected offspring
Autosomal recessive: unaffected parents can produce affected offspring
X-linked dominant: affected fathers produce affected daughters
X-linked recessive: affected mothers produce affected sons
