Jamestown Founded
The first permanent English settlement in America, was founded in 1607
FIrst enslaved people brought to American colonies
Were brought in 1619, had been captured by a Spanish slave ship. Marked the beginning of generations of slavery.

Found in 1619, first legislative assembly in the colonies and allowed landowners to elect representatives to make laws, decide taxes, and other government matters.

Landed in 1620, sailed on the Mayflower and formed the first permanent settlement in New England
John Winthrop delivers “A Model of Christian Charity” sermon
It was delivered in 1630, called for Puritan settlers to create a unified community to serve as a model for other Christian groups.
