Simon
Natural human goodness, spiritual/mystical insight, Christ-like. Sensitve, kind, solitary; hallucinates the “Lord of the Flies”. Understands true nature of the beast—the evil within humans— and his murder → total chaos
Roger
Quiet, sadistic, evil without consequence, brutal. Increasingly violent. Progression from throwing rocks near boys to killing Piggy shows loss of moral restraint.
Sam and Eric (Samneric)
Twin brothers who represent loyalty and the struggle between civilization and savagery. They are often used as a collective character and are easily influenced by the group's descent into chaos. Transition from Ralph→ Jacks side shows how fear and pressure leads to conformity
Robert
Symbolizes the loss of innocence and the ease with which ordinary people can become violent. A follower; participates in pig hunt reenactment. When boys pretend to hunt Robert, it foreshadows their real descent into violence.
Johnny
One of the youngest littluns, representing innocence and vulnerability. Often subjected to bullying, he signifies the loss of childhood and the impact of brutality.
Henry
Littlun, first hint of cruelty for pleasure (controlled tiny creatures in the water) Roger throws stones near him, showing erosion of moral boundaries. He is involved in acts of cruelty, particularly towards the younger boys.
Boy with the Mulberry Birthmark
A character who symbolizes the theme of fear and the consequences of societal prejudice. His tragic fate underscores the darkness within the group's descent into savagery. First to mention the beast, likely first to die

Law, order, authority, civilized discourse, and civilization. It is used to call meetings and establish rules among the boys, representing their initial attempts to maintain structure and governance. Destruction signifies end of civilized behavior

Hope of rescue, connection to human civilization, catalyst for boys deterioration. When kept, it shows responsibility. When neglected, reflects growing savagery

Embodiment of the beast within each human. Gruesome trophy, pig head on a stick surrounded by flies (lol) Speaks to Simon in a hallucination, revealing that the REAL beast is the savagery inside humans.

A physical mark left on the island from the plane crash, representing the disruption of nature and the impact of human intrusions.

Primal instinct of savagery within all humans. Sparks inner fear and savagery within the boys, mythic presence and leads to barbaric rituals and violence

symbolizes civilization, authority, but also warlike nature of adult world. He’s stern, surprised by boys’ savagery and that ppl acc died .. His arrival ends the chaos, his own warship suggests savagery isnt confined to children
