Renal vein
A blood vessel that carries deoxygenated blood away from the kidney.
Renal artery
A blood vessel that carries oxygenated blood to the kidney.
Urinary bladder
The organ that stores urine before it is excreted from the body.
Ureter
The tube that transports urine from the kidney to the urinary bladder.
Urethra
The duct that carries urine from the bladder to the outside of the body.
Epididymis
A coiled tube resting on the testis where sperm are stored and matured.
Vas deferens
The tube (also referred to as the ductus deferens) that carries sperm from the epididymis.
Gubernaculum
A structure that connects the testis to the scrotal sac and assists in the descent of the testes.
Bulbourethral gland
A gland in the male reproductive system located near the base of the penis.
Ovary
The female reproductive organ responsible for producing eggs.
Uterine horn
The branches of the uterus in the fetal pig where embryonic development occurs.
Urogenital sinus
The chamber where the vagina and the urethra join in the female fetal pig.
Crop
The thin-walled storage area for food in the earthworm's digestive system.
Gizzard
The thick-walled, muscular structure in the earthworm used for grinding food.
Aortic arches
The five muscular vessels in an earthworm that function as hearts to pump blood.
Cerebral ganglia
The primitive brain of the earthworm located at the anterior end.
Protonephridia
Excretory organs found in the internal anatomy of the earthworm.
Larynx
The structure at the top of the trachea commonly known as the voice box.
Diaphragm
The muscular partition that separates the thoracic cavity from the abdominal cavity.
Spleen
A flattened organ located near the stomach involved in blood filtration and immune function.
Anterior vena cava
A large vein (also called the cranial vena cava) that returns blood from the head and upper body to the heart.
Common carotid artery
Arteries located in the neck that supply blood to the head.
