GnRH
Gonadotropin-releasing hormone produced by the hypothalamus that controls the release of FSH and LH.
FSH
Follicle-stimulating hormone produced by GnRH, stimulates growth and development of follicles in females and sperm production in males.
LH
Luteinizing hormone that acts on follicles to cause ovulation in females and stimulates Leydig cells for testosterone production in males.
Progesterone
A steroid hormone produced by the corpus luteum, providing the body time to get pregnant.
Secondary Sex Characteristics
Traits developed during puberty that differentiate the sexes, influenced by hormones like testosterone.
Estus (Heat)
The period of sexual receptivity and fertility in females.
PGF2α
A lipid hormone produced by the uterus in females that causes regression of the corpus luteum if no pregnancy occurs.
Testosterone
A hormone produced by Leydig cells responsible for male secondary sex characteristics and male sexual behavior.
Oxytocin
A hormone produced by the hypothalamus, stored in the posterior pituitary, that helps induce milk production and expulsion of the placenta.
