Schizophrenia
Schizophrenia is a mental health diagnosis that affects how we think, feel, and relate to the world around us. It can make it harder to tell what's real, relate to others, and manage emotions. Symptoms of schizophrenia can be positive, negative, or cognitive.
Positive Symptoms
Symptoms that add, or create, experiences that are not present in “typical” mental experiences. Examples include auditory and visual hallucinations and paranoia.
Negative Symptoms
Symptoms that reduce sensations or experiences. Examples include low motivation, low socialization, and limited feelings or joy or pleasure.
Cognitive Symptoms
Symptoms that impact our thinking, memory, focus, or organization. Examples of this include difficulty finding the right word to express your thought or having thoughts that are not organized or clear.
