Chemistry

The study of matter and the changes matter undergoes.

Chemical Change

A process that produces new substances.

Physical Change

A change in form or state without creating a new substance.

Matter

Anything that has mass and occupies space (has volume).

Mass

The amount of matter in an object, commonly measured in grams ($\text{g}$) or kilograms ($\text{kg}$).

Weight

The force of gravity acting on an object's mass.

Volume

The amount of space an object or sample occupies.

Water Displacement

A technique used to measure the volume of an irregular solid, where the change in water level gives the object's volume.

Density

The measure of how much mass is packed into a certain volume, calculated as $\rho = \frac{m}{V}$.
