Testis description + function

• Oval, 4.5cm long, 2.5cm wide, 3cm thick. Internally divided into 200-300 lobules

• Produce + development of sperm

Scrotum description + function

• Skin covered pouch for the testis

• To encase and protect the testis

Epididymis description + function

• Tightly folded tubule fitted against rear surface of each testis

• To have sperm stored while it matures

vas deferens description + function

• Tube extended upwards passes into abdominal cavity the loops around to be behind bladder

• Carry sperm away from testis

Seminal vesicles description + function

• Pouch like organ, about 5cm long behind bladder

• Secretes thick fluid that rich in sugars, making about 60% of sperm volume

prostate gland description + function

• single gland shaped like a donut

• Secretes thin, milky, alkaline fluid that also becomes part of semen

Bulbo-urethral gland (Cowper’s gland)

• 2 small yellow glands size of a pea. Found beneath prostate on both sides of urethra

• Secretes a fluid that acts like a lubricant + becomes part of the semen

Urethra description + function

• The tube inside the penis attached to the bladder

• Carries semen + urine out of the body

Penis description + function

• An organ covered in erectile tissue

• Encases the urethra, placed inside vagina + helps in reproduction
