What is a First Responder?

an individual, trained in emergency care who serves as the link between the citizen who recognizes an emergency and advanced out-of-hospital care provided by medical professionals

First responder

the first person to reach a scene, helps secure the patient and scene, and has some form of training. Emergency Medical Technicians have completed a state-approved training program

When do emergencies occur?

an emergency situation occurs when a person becomes ill or injured and requires immediate medical response

What is your role in EMS system?

recognize that an emergency exists, make sure the scene is safe for you and the injured person. call 911, provide care until someone with more advanced training arrives and takes over

What do effective first responders do?

perform a safety check of the scene before taking action. Remain calm in emergency situations and observe safety precautions. Prioritize tasks and triage. STAYING HEALTHY AND FIT IS OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE
