• Transmission: aerosols or aspiration of contaminated water from ACs/ man made water (hot tubs)  typically in warm months

• signs/symptoms: fever, headaches, muscle aches, coughs, shortness of breath, atypical pneumonia

• Urine exam to identify 

• Treated by antibiotics 

• Fastidious bacteria, but survives anywhere bc intracellular parasite, survives in protozoa 

plague

• Yersinia pestis 

• Rodents, mice, bull. Fleas bite and behave as a vector 

• Humans either have direct contact or are bitten. 

• Bubonic 

  • Swollen lymph nodes

• Pneumonic 

  • Respiratory system, highly virulent

  • Cutaneous- blister or ulcer with black center 

    • Release exotoxins, can cause death

  • Gastrointestinal - diarrhea, vomit, acute inflammation, hemorrhage 

  • Pulmonary - deadly respiration infection from toxemia

• Motile, anaerobic spirochete 

• fever/chills, headache, joint/muscle pain, erythema migrans (bullseye bruise)

• Irregular heartbeat, myocarditis, facial palsy, balance issues, mood disturbances, schizophrenia-like illness
