Ocular Lens (Eyepiece)
The lens at the top of the microscope tube that the viewer looks through.
Body Tube
The microscope structural component that connects the ocular lens to the revolving nosepiece.
Revolving Nosepiece
The rotatable component of the microscope that holds the objective lenses.
Objectives
The primary magnifying lenses mounted on the revolving nosepiece of the microscope.
Stage Clips
Clips attached to the stage that hold the specimen slide in position.
Diaphragm (Microscope)
The component positioned beneath the stage to control the light passing through the specimen.
Coarse Adjustment Knob
The larger focus knob on a microscope used for initial, large-scale focus adjustments.
Fine Adjustment Knob
The smaller focus knob on a microscope used for detailed, precise focus adjustments.
Large central vacuole
A key organelle specified in the plant cell drawing.
Chloroplast
Organelle specialized for photosynthesis, present in the plant cell drawing.
Vacuole membrane
The outer membrane surrounding the vacuole in the plant cell drawing.
Golgi vesicles
Vesicles associated with the Golgi apparatus in the plant cell drawing.
Smooth ER (no ribosomes)
Endoplasmic reticulum defined specifically by the lack of attached ribosomes.
Rough ER (endoplasmic reticulum)
Endoplasmic reticulum defined by the presence of membrane-bound ribosomes.
