What is a project vs operations?

Projects are temporary, unique, and goal-oriented. Operations are ongoing and repetitive.

What is the Triple constraint?

Scope → Time → Cost – Quality as the 4th dimension

Initiating, planning, executing, monitoring & and control, closing

What happens during project initiation?

The need for the project is confirmed, the business case is considered, key stakeholders are identified and the project is formally authorised

What happens during project planning?

The scope, schedule, costs, resources, risks, communication and quality requirements are planned.

What happens during project execution?

The planned work is performed, deliverables are produced and the project team and suppliers are managed.

What happens during monitoring and control?

Actual performance is compared with the plan and corrective action is taken when the two differ.

What happens during project closing?

Deliverables are accepted, contracts and finances are closed, resources are released and lesson learned are recorded.
