Frequency
Counts how often a behavior occurs within a specified time frame.
Duration
Measures the time a behavior occurs from start to finish.
Latency
Records the time between the stimulus's presentation and the behavior's initiation.
Interresponse Time (IRT)
Tracks the time between the end of one behavior and the start of the next.
Partial Interval Recording
Records whether the behavior occurred during predefined intervals.
Whole Interval Recording
Documents if the behavior persists throughout the entire interval.
Momentary Time Sampling
Observes and records whether the behavior occurs at the end of each interval.
Single Stimulus Preference Assessment
Presenting one item at a time to determine if the individual shows a preference.
Paired Stimulus Preference Assessment
Presenting pairs of items to choose between.
Multiple Stimulus Without Replacement (MSWO)
Presenting an array of items without replacement until preferences are identified.
Multiple Stimulus With Replacement (MSW)
Presenting an array of items with replacement after selection.
Antecedent
An event or situation immediately before the behavior of interest.
Behavior
The specific action or response demonstrated by the individual.
Consequence
What happens immediately following the behavior.
Discriminative Stimulus (SD)
Clear instruction or cue given to evoke a specific response in Discrete Trial Training.
Forward Chaining
Teaching starts with the initial step in the sequence and progresses to subsequent steps.
Backward Chaining
Teaching starts with the final step in the sequence and works backward through the chain.
Task Analysis
Breaking down the skill into smaller, teachable components.
Prompts
Providing guidance or assistance to help the individual complete each step.
Verbal Prompts
Giving verbal instructions or cues.
Visual Prompts
Using pictures, gestures, or cues.
Physical Prompts
Physically guiding the individual through the behavior.
Modeling Prompts
Demonstrating the behavior for the individual to imitate.
Least-to-Most Prompting
Beginning with the least intrusive prompt and progressing to more intrusive prompts if needed.
Most-to-Least Prompting
Starting with more intrusive prompts and gradually fading to less intrusive prompts.
Prompt Fading
Gradually reducing or fading the intensity or frequency of prompts to encourage independent performance of the behavior.
Tokens
Physical or symbolic items such as coins, stickers, points, or tokens themselves.
Modifying Antecedents
Altering the environment or conditions before a behavior occurs.
Motivating Operations (MO)
Changing the value or effectiveness of a reinforcer by altering the individual's motivation or need.
Discriminative Stimuli (SD)
Using specific cues or signals that prompt a particular behavior.
Differential Reinforcement of Alternative Behavior (DRA)
Reinforcing a behavior that is an alternative to the problem behavior.
Differential Reinforcement of Other Behavior (DRO)
Reinforcing the absence or non-occurrence of the problem behavior within a specific time frame.
Extinction Procedures
Involves withholding reinforcement that previously maintained a behavior.
