Molecule

Two or more like atoms combined chemically.

Compound

Two or more different atoms combined chemically.

Synthesis reaction

A chemical reaction ($A + B \rightarrow AB$) where atoms or molecules combine and energy is absorbed for bond formation.

Decomposition reaction

A chemical reaction ($AB \rightarrow A + B$) where a molecule is broken down and chemical energy is released.

Chemical bonds

Structures that unite atoms; when broken, atoms dissociate from other atoms.
