War Communism
A system during the Russian Civil War where the government controlled all industry and took food from peasants.

A policy that allowed some private business and farming to help rebuild the Soviet economy after war.
Collectivisation
A policy where farms were combined into large state-controlled farms.
Kulaks
Wealthier peasants who owned more land and were targeted by the Soviet government.
Holodomor
A man-made famine in Soviet Ukraine that caused millions of deaths.
