What is the difference between a place and a region?

What is a dot distribution map?
A dot distribution map depicts data as points and shows how those points are clustered together or spread out over an area. Each dot represents a predetermined number of observations, which could be one or many. (lesson 1)
What’s the difference between GIS and GIScience?
GIS (Geographic Information System) is the process of getting data to build maps. This leads to GIScience (Geographic Informational Science), which takes the data from GIS and interprets it. (lesson 1)
