Good Citizenship

The conduct of oneself following the rights, duties, and privileges of being a Filipino citizen, which promotes the common good and concern for the Filipino family and future generations (CHED Memorandum No. 26, 2005).

Maka-Diyos

The good citizenship value representing Love for God, expressed through faith in the Almighty, respect for life, order, work, and concern for the family and future generations.

Maka-tao

The good citizenship value representing Love for Fellowmen, characterized by being part of a community, working for the common good, prioritizing others' well-being, and promoting inclusivity, social justice, love, freedom, peace, truth, and justice.

Maka-bayan

The good citizenship value representing Love for Country, expressed through unity, equality, respect for the law and government, patriotism, and the promotion of the common good.

Maka-kalikasan

The good citizenship value representing Love for the Environment, expressed by launching efficient and sustainable clean and green activities, showing respect for the integrity of creation, and using resources properly and prudently.

Feudal Structure

A system in the Philippine social environment in which a person of high rank and power is served by the lower class, developing dependence and creating economic and cultural gaps between the rich and the poor (Licuanan, 1988).

Colonial Mentality

A historical attitude developed due to long reigns of foreign colonization, particularly by Spain and the United States, leading Filipinos to view foreign culture as superior and more powerful (Licuanan, 1988).

Nationalism

An expression encompassing both the attitude/national identity of a nation's members regarding origin, ethnicity, and culture, and the actions taken by members to achieve or sustain full statehood with complete authority over domestic and international affairs.

Patriotism

A feeling of attachment, commitment, love, and devotion to one's country, nation, or political community.

Patris

The Greek word meaning 'fatherland', from which the word patriotism is derived.

Philippine Revolution of 1896

The first Asian nationalist uprising, which used nationalism as its main ideology after Spain had ruled the Philippines for about 333 years (Rodao & Rodriguez, 2001).
