Examinee’s Certification
A statement that must be signed before the exam is administered, agreeing to follow exam rules and complete the test with scholastic honesty.
Scholastic dishonesty
A serious academic violation that includes copying, using unauthorized materials, collaborating without authorization, or substituting for another person.
Exam Structure (Time)
You will be allowed 3 hours to complete the Lifetime Fitness and Wellness Pursuits A exam.
Exam Structure (Questions)
The exam consists of 43 multiple-choice questions for a total of 100 points.
Physiological and fitness principles
Principles related to exercise and training including warm-up and cool-down, overload, frequency, intensity, time, and specificity.
Biomechanical principles
Principles related to exercise and training including force, leverage, and type of contraction.
Warm-up
A practice that happens before a workout to loosen up muscles and increases the heart rate.
Cool-down
A practice that happens after a workout to ensure safe recovery and decreases the heart rate.
1st class lever
A biomechanical category exemplified by the head and neck during a neck extension.
High-intensity interval training (HIIT)
A combination of brief but intense bursts of cardio and equal periods of rest.
Functional fitness training
Exercises designed to help an individual with their everyday activities.
Circuit training
A combination of six or more exercises performed with very short periods of rest.
Conflict Resolution
Maintaining respect and taking responsibility for your actions to resolve issues between teams.
Hydration
A practice maintained before, during, and after exercise that decreases muscle soreness.
Aerobic activity
Physical activity that results in benefits such as improved lung function.
