Tricuspid
One of the four heart valves located between the right atrium & right ventricle
Pericardium
Membrane that encases the heart & contracts & relaxes to force blood to move through the circulatory system
Capillaries
Tiny thin walled vessels
-Take nutrients & oxygen from the arteries to cells
Veins
Carry blood contouring carbon dioxide from the capillaries back to the heart (except for pulmonary veins) & lungs for cleaning and to pick up oxygen
Oxygenation
Process of supplying oxygen to the bodys cell
Heart
Cone shaped muscular organ located in the chest cavity; contracts & relaxes to force blood through the circulatory system
Superior/Inferior vena cava
Very large veins that bring deoxygenated blood to your heart to get oxygen
Venules
A small vein that connects capillaries to larger veins
Blood Platelets
Clotting of blood (bruises)
Arteries
Carrys oxygenated blood from the heart to all the tissue of the body, more deeply into the body than veins
White blood cells
Fights bacteria & increase when infection invade the body
Red blood cells
Carrys oxygen & contain a protein called hemoglobin
Plasma
Fluid part of the blood
Pulmonary Artery
Artery carrying blood from the right ventricle of the heart to the lungs for oxygenation
Hemoglobin
A protein in the red blood cells that attract oxygen molecules through the process known as oxygenation
Blood
Salty, sticky fluid that circulates through the body bringing nourishment & oxygen to all body parts
Pulmonary Circulation
System that allows blood to travel through the pulmonary artery to the lungs where it is oxygenated
Lymph Vascular System
Network of organs, lymph nodes & lymph vessels that make lymph fluid & move it from tissues into bloodstream
Lymph
Colorless liquid that travels through the lymph glands & vessels, removing toxins along the way before moving back into the bloodstream
Lymph Nodes
Glands that filter out toxic substances like bacteria
