dynamic mic

- passive system,
- has to generate voltage,

Condenser microphone:

- capture entire theoretical hearing range, 20-20,000 hz,
- active, must be powered (battery or phantom powered)
- Issue with plugging in/ taking out phantom power

Cardioid pattern/hypercardiod:

-Pick up forward and to side,
-reject all sounds to rear,
- close mics

- tightens more to front, doesnt quite reject everything in rear

more directive than a cardioid pattern having
- a bit more side and less rear rejection.

Omnidirectional

- Picks up sound in all directions,
- Far mics
