Varieties of bread
Lots of different types of bread are available in Britain. For example, we can buy and eat breads from India, France, and Turkey
Different breads have different textures. Breads can be soft, crusty, chewy, ect.
Versatility of bread
Bread can be both sweet and savoury.
We can bread on its own or in main meals
We can eat bread as a snack, or as part of breakfast, lunch, or dinner
Making bread more interesting
We can add ingredients to bread to change the flavour
We can add toppings to bread to change the flavour
We can add fillings to bread to change the flavour
Making bread
The main ingredients for making bread are:
Yeast
Flour
Salt
Milk or water (liquid)
Sugar/fat (optional)
We combine these ingredients to make dough. We then knead, prove, shape, and bake the dough form bread
Nutritional Value of Bread
Bread is very nutritious.

Storing Bread
Fresh Bread
Bread loses moisture when it’s exposed to air
Because of this, you should store fresh bread in a breadbox or a sealed paper bag
Freezing bread
You can freeze bread for over two months
You should wrap the bread in plastic before freezing to help the bread stay fresh
You need to defrost frozen bread before eating
Loaves from shops
Bread from shops will often be wrapped in plastic to help it stay fresh
You should store bread in a dry place as moisture causes bread to go mouldy
Refrigerator
Do not store bread in the fridge because the bread will dry out.
