B-299
Acid Waste (Liquid)
Recall:
200 | 300 | 400 are specific categories
99 is a general label
01 | 02 | 03 | 04 are more specific
C-399
Alkali Waste
Recall:
200 | 300 | 400 are specific categories
99 is a general label
01 | 02 | 03 | 04 are more specific
D-499
Inorganic Chem Waste
Recall:
200 | 300 | 400 are specific categories
99 is a general label
01 | 02 | 03 | 04 are more specific
E501
Oxidizing Agents
Oxidizing agents make other things more positive by taking up electrons! Examples include Oxygen. Who wants to become more negative.
E is for our r(E)active chemical waste!!
E502
Reducing Agents!
These guys make what it reacts to EVEN MORE negative by donating electrons!
E is for our rEactive chemical waste!
E599
rEactive chemical waste
F601
F is for Fun! These are our dyes and pigments, F601 is our solvent-based dye waste. Which makes up a lot of this category!
F604
F is for Fun! These are our dyes and pigments, F604 stands for our resinous dyes and pigments.
G703
G is the last of our liquid waste, this category is for our Organic wastes. G703 is for halogenated waste!
I, Cl, Bromide !
G704
G is the last of our liquid waste, this category is for our Organic wastes. G704 is for Non-Halogenated Waste.
Ethyl acetate, acetone, etc.
I101
Our sludgy boi! This is the waste code for industrial oil waste (with sludge included)
I104
Where there is Oil, there are materials contaminated with Oil! I104 is for those materials.
J201 💜
One of the more common wastes in our lab. J is for JED. Father of two.
J is 201-299 because we started again at I. Which was the beginning of our solid wastes.
J is for toxic contaminated containers! J201 is specifically those that held E (rEactive waste) and D(inorganic waste).
K302 💜
K is for our stable girlies! The Kapable one!
K302 is specifically for Polymerized Waste
(aka) agarose and polyacrylamide!
L402
L is tag teaming with G. Recall that D is inorganic, G is organic, and G703-704 holds halogenic and non-halogenic organic waste.
L is for SPECIFIC non-halo waste.
M501
M501! The best of both infectious worlds. It is for pathogenic waste. It can be either solid or liquid.
M503
M is for Miscellaneous! Remember that M503- tres is for drugs. Pharmaceuticals.
M506
M506, is for Electrical waste! Electrical gadgets and gizmos and broken broken budgets. Remember, six, is electricity. It is a closed circuit with a switch buddy.
M507
The truly special boi! Only for special waste!
Recall: What is toxic?
Everything! Everything is toxic
except for: B299, C399, and M501
Recall: What is Corrosive?
B299 - Acid
C399 - Basic
Recall: What is infectious?
M501
Where can I find drugs?
M503
What’s liquid?
Everything from A to G, except for F604 (resinous waste) with a special addition of M501 (pathogenic waste)
What is solid?
Everything from I to M, with some exceptions in M501 (pathogenic waste)
What is sludge?
I101, for industrial oil, sludge included.
Final Reminder
When in doubt assume that everything is toxic
What law is this classification from?
RA 6969
What is a Hazard?
Ignitable, Corrosive, Reactive, and of course Toxic
“Aesthetically objectionable properties”
“Resistance to detox”
“Can cause cancer!”
for long term enviro hazards
Acute toxicity by all sorts of nomnomming, skin burning, fire or explosion risk - for short term hazards
Cue: *Dumb Ways to Die~”
