Fluid Mechanics
The branch of science which deals with the study of the behavior of fluids (gases or liquids).
Density
Mass per unit volume, defining how compact a substance is.
Fluid Statics
The study of fluids at rest or in equilibrium situations.
Fluid Dynamics
The study of fluids in motion.
Buoyant Force
The upward force exerted by a fluid that opposes the weight of an object submerged in it.
Archimedes' Principle
An object submerged in a fluid experiences an upward buoyant force equal to the weight of the fluid displaced.
Hydraulic Pressure
Pressure exerted by a fluid in a confined space, transmitted uniformly in all directions.
Atmospheric Pressure
The pressure exerted by the weight of the atmosphere, typically measured at 101.3 kPa.
Gauge Pressure
The pressure relative to atmospheric pressure, often used in measuring systems.
Pascal's Principle
An external pressure applied to an enclosed fluid is transmitted uniformly throughout the volume of the liquid.
Relative Density
The ratio of a material's density to the density of water.
Pressure Formula
Pressure is defined as force per unit area, expressed as P = F/A.
Fluid Pressure
The pressure exerted by a fluid at a given depth, proportional to the height of the fluid and its density.
Conversion of Pressure Units
Different units for measuring pressure, including Pascal, Bar, atm, and Torr, each with specific conversion factors.
Hydraulic Jack
A device utilizing hydraulic pressure as per Pascal's principle to lift heavy loads.
