Symbiotic Relationships
Basic definitions involving interactions between organisms.
Microbiome
Normal microbiota resident that are there all the time. Places on surfaces that are colonized by bacteria and or parcathe.
Opportunistic Pathogens
Normal microbiota microglia that can cause problems if they get to the wrong place.
Host Range
Types of infections that will affect a wide range of different plants and animals or organisms; transmission interspecies
Interspecies Transmission
How diseases get transmitted between different species.
Parenteral Route
A route other than enteral. Brace in the skin or injection
Iatrogenic
An infectious disease is a result of medical intervention
Pathogen
Disease causing. Something that generates hiccups.
Pathogenicity
Kind of a yes, no. Does this thing cause disease? Does it disrupt hormone function? Is it pathogenic or it's not?
Virulence
How easily a disease is caused. Related to infectious dose.
Virulence Factor
Any trait that allows that organism or that pathogen to create disease.
Coagulase
A cool enzyme that causes blood clots.
