Origin
The tendinous attachment of a muscle on the less movable bone or attachment during contraction.
Insertion
The muscle attachment to the more movable bone or attachment during contraction.
Muscle Spindle
Located inside the muscle belly, it detects muscle length by how hard/fast/far the muscle is being stretched.
Golgi Tendon Organs
Detect slow static tension or load, prevent contraction, and enable relaxation.
Proprioceptive Nerve Receptors
Located in tendons near the musculotendinous junction, detecting muscle and tendon position.
Muscle Hypertonicity
Characterized by increased muscle tone or tension, leading to stiffness and reduced flexibility.
Cross Fibre Friction - Adhesions
Targets breaking down adhesions between muscle fibers.
Myofascial Release
Focuses on releasing tension and tightness in the fascia surrounding muscles.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage
A technique to encourage lymph flow, decrease edema, and reduce scar tissue.
Nodal Pumping
Compressions applied at lymph nodes to promote lymphatic flow.
Muscle Approximation
Technique to reduce muscle tone and spasm by approximating muscle attachments.
Stretching
Method to increase pliability by elongating connective tissue fibers and affecting muscle and fascial tissue.
Trigger Points
Hyper irritable spots in muscles causing pain and reduced muscle length.
Myofascial Release
Technique to increase excursion and flexibility of fascia by moving it toward or beyond restriction.
Cross Fibre Friction - Adhesions
Breaks down adhesions in late subacute or chronic injuries using compression and motion.
