Right hypochondriac region
Upper right abdominal region beneath the right ribs; contains portions of the liver, gallbladder, and small intestine.
Right lumbar region
Middle right abdominal region lateral to the umbilical region; contains parts of the ascending colon and right kidney.
Umbilical region
Central abdominal region around the navel; includes parts of the small intestine and transverse colon.
Right inguinal (iliac) region
Lower right abdominal region near the groin; associated with the ileocecal area and appendix.
Epigastric region
Upper central abdominal region above the stomach; contains the stomach, part of the liver, and pancreas.
Left hypochondriac region
Upper left abdominal region beneath the left ribs; includes the stomach, spleen, and part of the pancreas.
Left lumbar region
Middle left abdominal region lateral to the umbilical region; includes portions of the colon and left kidney.
Left inguinal (iliac) region
Lower left abdominal region near the groin; associated with part of the descending colon.
Hypogastric region
Lower central abdominal region below the umbilical area; contains the bladder and, in females, the uterus.
Left upper quadrant
Left-side upper abdominal quadrant; includes the stomach, spleen, pancreas, and left kidney.
Right upper quadrant
Right-side upper abdominal quadrant; includes the liver, gallbladder, portions of the stomach and intestines.
Left lower quadrant
Left-side lower abdominal quadrant; contains the descending colon, sigmoid colon, and left reproductive structures.
Right lower quadrant
Right-side lower abdominal quadrant; contains the appendix, cecum, portions of the ileum, and right reproductive structures.
