Avogadro's number
6.02 × 10^23; the number of particles in one mole of any substance.
Mole
The amount of substance that contains 6.02 × 10^23 particles; a bridge between mass and the number of particles.
Molar mass
Mass of one mole of a substance, expressed in grams per mole; used to convert grams to moles.
Gram
Unit of mass in the metric system; used to measure lab quantities and relate to moles via molar mass.
18 g of water = 1 mole
Example from the notes: 18 grams of water is one mole of water and corresponds to 6.02 × 10^23 water molecules.
