Pharmacy Comtrolled Drug Schedules

Schedule (1) - I / C-I

Illegal drugs with high potential for abuse and no generally accepted medical uses. Do not prescribe, stock, or dispense them.

• Heroin, LSD, marijuana, methylenedioxymethamphetamine (ecstasy), methaqualone, and peyote

Schedule (2) - II / C-II

Dangerous medications with a high potential for abuse and for psychological and physical dependence.

• Cocaine, Lortab, morphine, Ritalin Norco, 15 milligrams of hydrocodone per dosage unit (Vicodin), methamphetamine, methadone, hydromorphone (Dilaudid), meperidine (Demerol), oxycodone (OxyContin), fentanyl, Dexedrine, Adderall, and Ritalin

Schedule (3) - III / C-III

Medications with a moderate to low potential for abuse and dependence.

• less than 90 milligrams of codeine per dosage unit (Tylenol with codeine), ketamine, anabolic steroids, testosterone

Schedule (4) - IV / C-IV

Medications with a low potential for abuse and dependence.

• Librium, Xanax, Soma, Darvon, Darvocet, Valium, Ativan, Talwin, Ambien, Tramadol

Schedule (5) - V / C-V

Medications with limited quantities of some narcotics, usually for antidiarrheal, antitussive, and analgesic purposes.

• Lomotil, Motofen, Lyrica, Parepectolin, cough preparations with less than 200 milligrams of codeine or per 100 milliliters (Robitussin AC)
