Intrinsic Feedback
Feedback presented to an individual through various sensory systems as a result of the normal production of movement, originating from within the person rather than an external source.
Sensory Feedback
Internal sensory information where visual feedback indicates movement accuracy, and somatosensory feedback indicates how limbs are positioned and how much force is used.
Extrinsic Feedback
Information provided from an outside source, such as a therapist, that supplements an individual's intrinsic feedback.
Concurrent Feedback
Extrinsic feedback delivered live during the performance of a task.
Terminal Feedback
Extrinsic feedback delivered at the end of a task.
Knowledge of Results (KR)
Extrinsic feedback concerning the outcome of a movement in relation to the specified movement goal.
Knowledge of Performance (KP)
Extrinsic feedback providing information about the specific movement path used to achieve the goal.
Fading Schedule
A feedback schedule where more feedback is given early and is gradually faded out over time, resulting in no performance difference during acquisition but better scores in delayed retention.
Feedback on Every Trial
Feedback delivered after every single trial, which results in worse delayed retention because the learner becomes dependent on feedback and does not rely on themselves for error correction.
Summary Feedback
Feedback provided after a series of trials, leading to better delayed retention performance compared to receiving feedback on every single trial.
