Clause in the 14th Amendment that prohibits states from denying any person life, liberty, or property without legal proceedings.

6th Amendment provision that guarantees a defendant the right to an attorney.
Amicus Curiae Brief
A document filed by someone who is not a party to a case, offering information or arguments relevant to the case.

The legal principle of determining points in litigation according to precedent.
