AWS Global Infrastructure
Provides the physical and network foundation for delivering cloud services around the world
AWS Region
Is a separate geographic area in which AWS operates cloud infrastructure.
Regions
Are isolated from one another to support fault tolerance and stability
Availability Zone (AZ)
Is an isolated location within an AWS Region
This is designed for fault isolation and are connected to other Availability Zones in the same Region through high-bandwidth, lowlatency private networking.
AWS data centers
Are the physical facilities in which computing, storage, and network processing occur.
Customers do not select a specific data center when deploying resources; the Availability Zone is generally the most granular infrastructure location that customers choose
AWS Points of Presence
Extend selected AWS services closer to end users. Unlike Regions and Availability Zones, ______ are designed primarily to reduce latency by bringing content and network services closer to users.
They include edge locations and Regional edge caches
Edge locations
Are used by services such as Amazon CloudFront and Amazon Route 53 to serve requests closer to end users and reduce latency
Amazon CloudFront
Is a content delivery network (CDN) that uses edge locations to deliver content with low latency and high transfer speeds
Regional edge caches
Provide an additional caching layer for content that is not accessed frequently enough to remain at an edge location
Foundational services
______ such as compute, networking, and storage use this infrastructure, while higher-level database, analytics, application, management, security, and other service categories build on those foundations
