What does atomic radius mean?
the distance from the center of the atom (nucleus) to the furthest electron orbital
What does ionization energy mean?
the energy needed to remove an electron from the outermost energy level (the smaller an atom is, the more energy it will take, because the outermost energy level is closer to the nucleus)
What does electronegativity mean?
indicates how strongly an atom of that element attracts electrons to itself (similar to ionization energy: the smaller the atom, the stronger its electronegativity is because the outermost energy level is closer to the pull of the nucleus)
What is the pattern for metal reactivity?
as a metal gets larger, it gets more reactiv
What group of elements are excluded from the periodic trends?
noble gases (far right column)

as atoms become smaller they become more reactive
