Speech
A text written primarily to be presented to an audience.
Biography
A non-fictional account based on a real person's life, written by someone other than the person whose life is being described, with the main purpose of describing that person's life.
Autobiography
A written account of a person's life written by the person whose life is being described.
Novel
A work of fiction that is usually the longest form of fiction and generally longer than a short story and a novella.
Short Story
A brief work of fiction that is shorter in length than a novella and a novel.
Novella
A work of fiction that falls somewhere between a short story and a novel in length (generally longer than a short story but shorter than a novel).
Science Fiction
A genre of fiction that explores futuristic technology or scientific possibilities and is not always completely realistic.
Tall Tale
A type of fiction that contains impossible events, extreme exaggeration, or larger-than-life characters.
Nonfiction
A category of writing based primarily on facts and real information.
Realistic Fiction
A type of fiction representing events that could realistically happen, such as a teenager dealing with a difficult first day at a new school.
