What is current?

Current is the rate of flow of charge

What is potential difference?

A measure of the Work done per unit of charge

What is the energy transfer?

The total work done by each coloumb of charge passing through a component

What is resistance?

The difficulty or ease with which free electros pass through a component

What is Ohms law?

The current through a resistor or metal wire at a constant temperature is directly proportional to the potential difference across it

How do you measuring VI characteristics and resistance of wire?

1) set up circuit as diagram

2) variable resistor used to adjust current

3) use voltmeter to measure pd

4) use ammeter to measure current

5) calculate resistance

What are the 2 rules for a series circuit?

1) current is the same through all components

2) pd of the power supply is shared between components

What are the 2 rules for a parallel circuit?

1) total current from power supply is shared between each branch

2) pd of the power supply is the same across components
