Chemical messenger transported through blood

Testosterone

Hormone made in the testes and ovaries. Synthesized in cholesterol and higher in males. That's used for developing primary and secondary sex characteristics,muscle, and lipido.

Endocrine system

Plays a role in releasing hormones in our body

Fear/ stress response

Emotional stimulus, amygdala, hypothalamus, pituitary gland, adrenal gland, release of stress hormones, adrenaline and cortisol, increase heart rate and body temp, increased physiological arousal.

Social threat

A threat that comes from another person or group of people (as opposed to a natural threat, like a wild animal).

Acetylcholine

An excitatory neuron that plays a role in muscle movement and memory

Agonist

A chemical that amplifies the effect if nt by binding to receptor sites

Antagonist

Chemical that reduces the effect of a nt by blocking the receptor site

Endogenous

A naturally occurring chemical in our body
