Self-assessment
The type of assessment for students to become aware of and responsible for their own learning.
Formative
The type of assessment to check understanding and give students feedback while they are still learning.
Summative assessment
The type of assessment to measure what students have learned after completing a unit.
Test
refers to a tool, instrument, or technique that measures someone’s knowledge of something and to determine what and how much has been learned.
Testing
the process of obtaining data about someone’s knowledge of something and determining what and how much has been learned. Results obtained from administration of tests may be used to make informed decision on what to do to improve students’ performance.
Measurement
refers to the process by which the attributes or dimensions of some physical object is determined.
Assessment
process of gathering information to make informed decisions about in relation to students’ performance.
Evaluation
the process of making judgments based on criteria and evidence. It is a process of summing up the results of measurements or tests, giving them some meaning based on value judgments.
Non-standardized test
a type of test developed by the classroom teachers.
Standardized test
a type of test developed by test specialists. It is administered, scored and interpreted using a certain standard condition.
Objective Test
a type of test in which two or more evaluators give and examine the same score.
Subjective test
a type of test in which the scores are influenced by the judgement of the evaluators, meaning there is no one correct answer.
Supply test
a type of test that requires the examinees to supply an answer, such as an essay test item or compilation or short answer test item.
Fixed-response test
a type of test that requires the examinees to select an answer from a given option such as a multiple-choice test, matching type test, or true/false.
Individual Test
Individual test is a type of test administered to student on a one-on-one basis using oral questioning or written test.
Group test
a type of test administered to a group of individuals or group of students.
High-stakes test
any test used to make important decisions about students, educators, schools, or districts, most commonly for the purpose of accountability. Example is when they used a test to make major decisions about a student, such as high school graduation or grade promotion.
Standardized tests
are tests administered and scored under a consistent set of procedures. So when all students answer the same questions under similar conditions and their responses are scored in the same way, the test is standardized.
