Goodness of Fit Test
A hypothesis test to see how well a certain probability distribution fits.
Chi-squared distribution
The test statistic follows this distribution with k – 1 degrees of freedom when computing the test statistic.
Conditions for the Chi-Squared Distribution
Each case must be independent of all other cases. Each cell must have an expected count of at least 5.
Chi-squared Test for Independence
Used when you have two categorical variables and want to test for independence.
Analysis of Variance (ANOVA)
A method used to test whether the means are equal among all groups.
ANOVA Hypotheses
The null hypothesis is that all means are equal among all groups. The alternative hypothesis is that at least one mean is not equal.
MSG
Measure of variability between groups
MSE
Measure of variability within groups
F Distribution
A skewed distribution with two degrees of freedom parameters, used in ANOVA tests.
What type of variables are tests for independence?
Numerical variable and a categorical variable.
