thalamus
acts as the brain's central information relay station, processing and routing signals between the body, spinal cord, and the cerebral cortex.
corpus callosum
a thick, C-shaped band of nerve fibers found deep inside the center of the brain that connects the left and right cerebral hemispheres.
amygdala
a small, almond-shaped cluster of neurons located deep within the brain's temporal lobes, with one on each side of the brain. It is a core part of the limbic system, which handles emotions, survival instincts, and memory.
pineal gland
a tiny, pinecone-shaped endocrine structure located near the center of the brain that primarily regulates the sleep-wake cycle by secreting the hormone melatonin.
bansil ganglia
controls, smooths out, and fine-tune voluntary movements.
ventricles
produces, store, and circulate Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) through the central nervous system.
reticular formation
regulates arousal, manages the sleep-wake cycle, and filters sensory information.
limbic system
processes and manage emotions, long-term memories, and basic survival behaviors.
medulla oblongata
controls vital, involuntary autonomic processes like breathing, heart rate, and blood pressure.
pons
acts as a major communication and relay hub between different areas of the brain, the cerebellum, and the spinal cord.
hypothalamus
a tiny, essential structure at the base of the brain that acts as the main control center for keeping the body's internal systems balanced.
hippocampus
helps the brain process, form, and retrieve conscious memories, as well as handle spatial navigation.
cerebellum
tocoordinate voluntary muscle movements, maintain balance, and support motor learning.
pituitary gland
produces and release vital hormones that control other glands and regulate essential body processes.
