New cards

Know the formula for photosynthesis.

12H2O+6CO2 -> 6O2+C6H12O6 + 6H2O

2
New cards

What is the visible light spectrum and the colors that represent the different wavelengths?.

3
New cards

____ light has the most energy whereas ____ light has the least of visible light.

violet/blue,red

4
New cards

What is and how does a spectroscope work?

used to separate the wavelengths of white light.

5
New cards

What is the absorption spectrum for chloroplast extract?

violet, blue, red

6
New cards

What is the transmission spectrum for chloroplast extract?

green, yellow

7
New cards

How does the above compare with the absorption spectrum of the green, red or blue filter?

8
New cards

Be able to interpret results on a chromatogram.

pigments separate by molecular weight, lightest at the top. from the top down, caratanoids to chlorophyll a

9

Know the parts of the chloroplast.

ribosomes, starch grain, granum, stroma, lamella, thylakoid disk, inner membrane, outer membrane.

Be familiar with the light dependent and light independent reactions, the products, reactants and the location in the chloroplast where these reactions take place.

light dependant reactions take place in the thylakoid membrane which is called the lumen. the light independent reactions take place in the stroma( calvin cycle) the light dependant reactions have photosytem II AND photosystem I (photosystem I only makes ATP) ( photosystem II produces ATP, NADPH and O2)
