The major theme about grief and loss in The Raven is a sad sorrow that he is grieving and looking for someone that he can't reach. The speaker's behavior reveals the theme through word choice, an example is when he said he was ´weak and weary´
Grief is inescapable

The raven might symbolize loss and grief. Nevermore helps develop this theme by signifying that the grief will always stay with him and he can't just distract himself from it or escape it.
Grief can consume a person's thoughts
How does the repetition of certain words emphasize the theme, and how does repetition help to develop the mood of the poem?
Poe repeats certain words and sounds to engage the reader and set the theme and mood of the poem which is a grief he can't escape. Repetition affects the mood by creating a sense that the author can't escape his pain.
Obsessive thoughts

One example of dark and gloomy imagery-
Respite—respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore;
Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe and forget this lost Lenore!”
Quoth the Raven “Nevermore.
This helps create the tone because it creates a sense of angst and worry about not being able to escape.
